Its probably been asked a million times before, but how do i go about getting my Drivers Side front leccy window to work properly. It needs to be pulled by hand with the switch activated. It like gets 1/4 up, then needs a hand, then when it gets to the last 4-5 cm, it goes up no problem
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated Brett

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated Brett |

will need a new window reg and keep the rubbers lubed with something like hhs2000 (worth) product or silicon spray

I've found that too.
The window gets stuck at the front somewhere and tilts foward on the way up. If I use my hand to tilt it back it goes up no problem. I've used silicon spray but it hasnt done much to help it. |

amaroll protectant is good for abt a month, p.s. don't bother with silicone spray or teflon spray or any other lube in a can they just dry out in abt a week max, had an ef taxi and now have au2 taxi tried evey thing repco sold and protectant works best.
can try the lube ford use, put abt 3 drops at top os rubber and lasts abt 3 mnths is what the ford parts guy told me and bottle good for abt 300 applications, but $40.

A long term fix is to pull the door trim off, then wind the window down, so as you can access the 2 bolts that hold the metal thingy on the regulator.
THe metal thingy is the thingy that holds the glass in place. What happened with mine was these bolts were getting loose, and allowing the glass to pitch forward..... Meaning that you had to pull back on the glass so as it wouldnt stick.... When you tighten the bolts, make sure you pull the glass backwards before tightening. That way the glass will sit in the right position, and will hopefully not pitch forward again for a while....

I tried that, as both of my front windows were tilting foward when winding up. unfortunatly it wasn't successfull for me. I also tried various lubes from silcone spray and teflon spray, even the ford stuff. no success with anything. In the end new window regulators $165ea trade, and new bailey channel rubbers, been good now for over 18 months (touch wood)

if the window is tilting fwd on the way up do as i did move the bracket for the cable fwd a little so it pulls more on the front and adjust the window guide on the front in a bit so the gap is just enough not to bind it up.

i got the ford magic glue put on my sticking windows and its been fine since, 14 months or so

its $40 for a small bottle of the stuff is what i was quoted.
not getting it applied by ford, i.e. 2 drops on either side.

fair enough well i paid $15 just for enough to do it (in that case $40 isnt too bad if u had mates that needed it too) but that said mines lasted a far while now and is showing no signs of slowing up.
just a side point - have the engine running when putting up windows to get better voltage across the terminals, eg put the windows up before you stop the car, not after. this applies more when you are running them up and down to put the glue in etc... but still mine go quicker with engine running

done the same myself, works perfectly. only downside is i applied an assload of it and it sometimes makes the side of the window a bit oily... but i've washed most of the excess out
