Hi All,

I have an AUII Fairmont Ghia and just recently my front passenger door wont lock when i turn on the alarm...theres a funny noise coming from the door when i arm the car....all the other doors lock but the front left...

the car was fitted with a factory alarm and central locking so i'm not sure whether its just s**t itself or a possible wiring failure....

now i've had the car for nearly a year now and i have had no problems with this until now...

i have uploaded a short clip of the problem at hand...

i've narrowed it down to either the central locking unit in the door has s**t itself or the wiring in the unit has corroded therefore causing the failure to lock when the button is pressed...

all help will be appreciated!!!

i have a similair problem with my ef fairmont... apparently even the slightest miniscule "out of alignment" door can make the central locking crap itself... im not sure if this is the case for you but just more a suggestion...

just fixed my wifes AU had the same problem.....

inside the central locking unit is a plastic spindle and they break (common problem). But of course you cant buy just that $3 piece, that would be way to easy, you have to buy the whole thing.

you can get a reco unit off ebay for around $65 or get one from a wrecker for about the same price.

but if anyone can get that bit on its own I'll buy 10 off them and put them in the cupboard, I have 2 AU's so would come in handy!!!

the crap thing though is that its in a c**t of a place...hahaha

ah well...gotta do it...

its not that bad once you get the trim off.
I found it easy to do, 3 bolts, unclip the rod, disconnect the wires easy as.....

you should try an E-series
