having some strange problems with my ef gli. went to start the car and turned the key to the on position (not all the way to start) and the car tried to start itself. the engine started and it sounds like the starter or something was still trying to turn the engine while the engine was running. i turned it off straight away. any idea on whats going on?

ignition switch maybe?

when turned to acc it kicks over for half a second then stops. turning the key to the next stage makes the car start. having a look around the ignition barrel now maybe its something there.

problem solved...found a short in the wires coming off the ignition barrel. thanks for pointing me in the right direction
