Anyone fitted a turbotimer on a EF/EL Falcon???
Just finshed fitting mine last night, all works well,,, execpt.. when I take the key out and the turbo timer is controlling when the car turns off, I cant use the central locking button on my key ring.. The only way to lock the door is by putting the key in the door lock.. Any Ideas, hints, tips, smart comments??? Thanks Tim |

you have to bypas smartlock i beleive
tricky subject as there arent too many people who have done it i think

Have you ever thought of just getting a after market alarm/centre and keyless entry package you could ditch smart lock (i don't know how you can go about it) and use the after market product. But it's your decision you may not like the idea of this.

Yer maybe, but there has to be a better way around it. The car has a factory fitted alarm already in it. Seems like a bit of a waste to get ride of the smart lock and the factory alarm, and replace them with the same sort of thing..

Yeah, there is a way... Its a bit of fiddling, but not difficult
The problem is the BEM wont allow the Keyfob to work when it thinks the Car is running (To prevent things like pressing the boot release button whilst driving)..... What you will need to do is use a relay on the Ignition Signal line going to the BEM, to cut ignition going to the BEM, when the Turbo TImer is running. Or depending on how the Turbo TImer is connected, you could use some Diodes to stop the turbo timer feeding Power to the BEM, and Only feed power to the ignition Line. How is the Timer connected, did you cut in to the Ignition Line at the Ignition Barrel, or somewhere else ? I am also assuming that the timer simply feeds +12V to the ignition line for a period of time when it senses that the ignition feed from the Key has stopped. If this is the case, then the easiest method is to cut the ignition sense feed to the BEM, and wire it directly to the Ignition Line between the Turbo Timer and Ignition Switch. That way the BEM will think that the ignition is off, even though the engine is still running.... Also what Falcon is it installed on, EF or EL... The BEMs are completely different in terms of wiring, but they operate nearly exactly the same.

I had a friend install most of it, so I dont know the details (sorry), Its an EF II, I did notice that he used Diodes on one of the wires from the Ignition Barrel. I'll pull it apart tonight and have a bit of a look.. I think the best method would be to Quote: cut the ignition sense feed to the BEM, and wire it directly to the Ignition Line between the Turbo Timer and Ignition Switch. That way the BEM will think that the ignition is off, even though the engine is still running....
