I built an HHO hydrogen cell, but I can't keep it from overheating, any comments?

After researching hydrogen cells on the interntet and you tube, I designed one for myself. It consists of 6 stailess plates, positive & neg. charged emmersed in a 4" pvc cylinder with capped and vented to throttle body in my truck. The cell pulls on averg. 18 -22 amps, water capt. is roughly 1/2 gal. and after 20 min of opperation the temp is about 180, and above this pvc will start to distort. trying to come up with a way to cool it. My mission is alternate fuel to improve my gas mileage

Try building an external waterjacket that runs off to a small cooler somewhere? use an old heater core or something?

you are getting too much current methinks. I believe you need to try a different plate anode arangement. Ideal current needs to be lower. see this thread

Are you using any chemical in the water? e.g. baking soda, KOH, etc. If so try weakening the solution by about 50%. If not & you are running plain water, then your gaps between your plates are too close. You need a setup that can adjust amps simply by strength of electrolyte, thus controlling heat by adjusting amps. (try to get down around 10 - 15 amps, hot.)
