what amps would s standered eb alternater.
car is a 93 eb sedan series 2 what i want to do is put a bigger alternater on it.

There is no direct bolt on replacement for an upgrade to a greater capacity alternator. The standard max size alternator is 85amps. The EF/EL alternators put out 110amps and 100amps respectively.
It is possible to retrofit an alternator off an EF/EL to the EB. This requires modifying the brackets and using a different size belt. Using the SEARCH function would have found you this thread by PaulMac. http://www.fordmods.com./forums/viewtopic.php?t=57831&highlight=alternator Good Luck BenJ

G'day mate, some general info for you. Have a look at your alternator, if it's "rounded" in shape ( like my original one ...1993 EB series II ) with many large vent holes in the casing then it's probably a Mitsubishi one ( standard ) either 70 or 85 amp. Run your fingers over the rear of the Alternator and you should feel the Mitsubishi diamond logo in the centre where the bearings seat in the casing. A sticker on the casing body ( should be visible from above looking down over the alternator behind the power steering pump ) should tell you the Ampere rating.
An alternative is: A 85 amp Bosch off of a late series EA as they have a definite advantage of being able to remove and replace the regulator from the rear of the alternator, whereas the Mitsubishi requires complete disassembly and are made in Australia. Regulators are cheaper than buying whole Alternators. I have one and the front pulley ( for the fanbelt ) looks similar.

This is a bit late but anyway.... I hope I didn't mislead you a bit Johnathon but I have since learn't that the connector plug for the loom at the back of the alternator is different ( but wires themselves look identical ) you need the proper plug. Also the bracket which holds the alternator to the block is different. Anyway hope this may help...somebody

i fitted an EL alt to my 92 EB just grinded the standard pully down a bit and the front bracket thined it abit ,it fits in perfectly now like normal ,
