I just installed a megasquirt in my EF and I wanted to confirm the timing. When I look at the crank pully there is a timing mark and also a pointer on the timing cover. Can anyone confirm that when the mark is lined up with the pointer is that top dead centre?
Thanks Daniel

Thanks Daniel Yes that would indicate TDC. Though that is only true if the balancer pulley hasn't slipped. phong =P~ EDIT: You also have to make sure the marker on the timing chain sprocket to be on the passenger side. If you don't want to pull the rocker cover off, you'll need to remove spark plug from cylinder 1 out and then either stick something in it to make sure it is at True TDC. phong =P~

Thanks for that.
I beleive there is a way to make the factory ecu fix the timing to 10 degrees or something for checking timing. Can anyone tell how it's done and the details. That way I can check if the balancer has slipped. I think I need to short two pins in the diagnostics port but don't realy know. Cheers Daniel

use a positive stop device in #1 spark plug hole. thats the only 100% way of checking the balancer
