Is it difficult to remove the windscreen and rear window from an EF?
That's all that's left on a sedan before I send it off to the tip and it seems a pity to waste it. cheers |

Without a windscreen removal tool or a very thin, very sharp flexible blade they're almost impossible to get off without cracking IMO.
They sit on a bed of sealant that has to be cut cleanly or it won't let go and cracks the inner layer of glass. I just bought a removal tool for the same reason [$26 trade from Bursons] , I was fed up with sending good glass to the crusher and not being able to remove it without cracking it. Now I've got a good chance of salvaging the glass. Cheers, Paul

a hammer duh nice quick and easy...
LOL goto ya local supercheap or repco etc etc and purchase a windscreen removal tool... unless a previous over zealous window bloke put a joke load of sealent will be an easy process

Thanks for the tips I didn't know there was such a tool but worth getting. knowing my luck i'd send it off to the crusher and then i'd get mine smashed. Cheers fellas.

Tas Ed,
My new windscreen tool is in the car, when my wife gets home later to-night I'll post a pic. of it for you. For the price they're worth it, as only two days after sending a good screen to the recyclers [in a hulk] I broke mine. It does get frustrating, hopefully no more wasted glass. Cheers, Paul

Good luck getting an old laminated windscreen out with that. They are made for panel beaters to remove glass, not to get out windscreens without breaking them. It will be fine for the rear screen, but you will have to be very patient and very lucky to get a laminated front screen out without breaking it. Good luck!

It will give me more chance than I had without it and it's the same tool the windscreen replacement guys used to when replacing my broken screen. They got the old out cleanly, in one piece, no further cracks, which surprised me. It's worth a try, I've only got to fluke one front or rear screen and it's paid for itself. Cheers, Paul

Cheers, Paul exactly....also when i saw the windscreen guy doing it he had a really good knife, it was a long very flexible blade that i havent seen anywhere before...with these 2 tools it took him about 2 minutes to remove the old screen
