title says it all really. i replaced the heater hose and heater tap, re-filled with coolant, started the car and let it idle for about 5 mins. then i took it for a 30min drive to let engine heat up so i could see if the heater tape/hose was still leaking. got home opened bonnet no leaks, everything was good.i went to return my mates jack and jack stands, and drove the car to his house. about a 5-8 min drive ( Rolling meadows to Goonawarra for any Sunbury people) when i got to his house out of sheer curiosity i opened the bonnet and there was water all over the cat and it had deff sprayed out of the the engine. we didnt have a real good look but it looks like the water has come out behind the cat. (will have a mate give it a good going over to find prob). i am thinking that the head gasket has gone, my mate also thinks the same. but he did also suggest that the wall that allows the water to flow around the engine the keep it cool may have cracked. he said it is a common prob that it cracks at the firewall. i am now looking at giving this EF to a mate and buying an EL he is selling less the value of my car. ( the value of my car now depends on the damage to the engine, if any at all)
can any one offer any theories to what may have happened. and if the head gasket or the water barrier around the engine, and rough guess to how much damage i may have done to the engine (if any at all) And if this helps. the car ran fine the entire time, no change in power and stuff like that. and i have not started the can since. Cheers. PS sorry about long post. trying and answer all small question before they get asked |

you drove it for 30 mins, then took it for another drive so by that time it had built up pressure real good, I would be checking welsh plugs as they are under the exhaust manifold and hard to see.
If its a stock exhaust manifold real hard to see, I would remove that and check them first. almost forgot there is a water pipe that runs around the back of the engine and under the exhaust manifold to the water pump too.
