can someone tell me the easiest way to remove the heaterbox from an EF Fairmont. i have the dash out and need to replace the heaterbox as mine is rooooooooted!

If you're replacing the heatercore or A/C evaporator, I don't think you can split the heaterbox with it in situ, you'll need to take it out as a whole.

there is no easy way....the complete box needs to come out there or 5 or so nuts that need undoing in the engine bay and theyre a b**ch to get to

haha nah everything inside the heaterbox is fine... the actual heaterbox is f**k... one of the shafts to move the face vent door is snapped inside. anything else i should replace or think about when i replace the heaterbox?

Are you running with climate control or just standard heater and air conditioning as I have a complete heaterbox with nearly new A/C evaporator that I took out when I fitted climate control.

its got climate control in it... so its probly easier to just grab a climate control box and throw that in..

Not really - swapping over the CC components is not too hard - particularly if the heaterbox is out. BDM and vaccy solenoid are straightforward - the hole for the fan speed controller needs to be made bigger - a dremel will make light work of it, but be aware there is a metal plate inside.

Mate you have to remove the complete box from the car. If you split the box it is wise to replace the evaperator & heater core as they are a common
fault, prone to leaking. Good Luck.

alright, i've picked up a second hand heaterbox, the recirc module still works, the flaps seem to be in good cond. the foams fairly s**t so i'm going to replace that.
how much should i pay for heatercore and evaporator, cause i'd hate to get it in and have them both go...

Heap of screws in the back.....
Rear cover lifts off (it's a bit sticky because of some gooey black s**t they use to seal them) and the heater and evap cores lift out. Put it back together the way you pulled it apart. Pretty straight forward.......... These might help?

ahh now i see why you cant change the fan without pulling the dash as well... wtf mines making the most annoying noise now and i cbf pulling all that out to fix it why ford, WHY!!!!!
