my little bro just picked up an EA with an EL XR6 motor and 5spd with a dirty great t70, front mount, etc already done. Need to do a fuel system and ECU just wondering wat your running wat you paid and how well its going

this project has so far only cost 1600 including car and we are trying to get away with a budget of approx 5000.

Lotta blokes are using the EMS ecu's, good value for the unit they are.

EMS 8860 roughly $1700 i think.
42lb injectors $500 new i think.
a XR fuel reg. $120?
Bosch 040 or 044 fuel pump (which ever is the intank pump, I forget) $200ish

That including the car is $4120. If you got all that stuff second hand you could probably chop a few hundred off.

EDIT:

Forgot about dyno tuning. Think its a few hundred an hour?

My advice would be to check out your local dyno shops first see what computers they can tune because there isnt much point getting a computer then finding out that you have to travel hours just to get it tuned.

mate had an ef xr6 using t70 turbo.
i believe he was using a haltech e6x (bout $2200?)
870cc injectors, anything over 600 will be fine depending on what power you want and how hard you want them to be working.. $800+
bosch 044 fuel pump $220 off ebay
fuel pressure reg $150+
to tune a haltech allow around $450 - $650 just to cover your a*** and any hiccups
you'd probly be looking around the 5g mark but keep in mind labour if you cant do it all yourself.

his set up made around 320rwkw i think but he kept smashing manual gearboxes.
im currently doing a similar setup but without a computer or fuel sytem coz im using lpg and hoping for 220rwkw at about 10psi. wont chase any more than that coz im pretty sure my auto will sh*t itself. anything over 250rwkw and i think you may have issues with your diff, axles and gearbox as 2 other mates running turbo efs have had problems with these so far.

Did you only buy 4 injectors or did you just get a f**k good deal?

as for computer take the car to the person you want to tune it and pay them for a new computer installation and tuning, as this will save lots of time money and headaches.

I'm using a Megasquirt on my EF turbo project. I haven't tuned it yet as I'm waiting to get the car registed. But so far it seems to be running quite well on just the base settings.

Cheers

Daniel.

I got a set of 6 for $370 including postage, forum group buy.
Just make sure they are genuine, apparently there fake dekas floating around now.

the injectors are from a forum group buy

it would be interesting to see how cheap other people can boost a car for. Who can do it the cheapest
