Hey there,

When starting my EF fairmont in the cold, one of the fans starts straight away, and it doesn't idle up to "warm up" so it takes forever to warm up.

But its only 1 fan going, and i have no engine check lights or what not lit.

Anyone know wtf its doing this for? Not sure it matters, but it had a recent battery change.

Thanks
Andrew.

Is your aircon on? You have a fairmont, so is your CC set to auto?

IIRC as long as the aircon is on one fan will be on as that maintains airflow over the condensor!

Hey mate,

thats what i thought initially, but no the cc is off. I'm not sure if something is confused and thinks the cc is on maybe? will a cc reset fix this?

Thanks,

Andrew.

I reconnected the battery today after a few days of being disconnected, and tried again, i did a reset on the CC, but it still does it.

When i turn the CC on, the other fan joins in, so both are going.

When the car is cold, but CC is on, are both supposed to go?

Obviosly when hot both should go.

I was thinking maybe it could be a sticky relay? Does each fan has its own?

Andrew.

check/ change your thermo relays then do a fault code test your auto temp sensor maybe sensing hot or open circuit? or coolent temp sensor could be cactus causing fans to run? just a thought.
