Hi all

I have 2 E series cars that were to be donors at one point or another for my 90 EA II wagon. I have decided to use the 93 4.0 EB and get rid of the 90 EA S 3.9 MPFI. I was wondering if it is worth my while to pull the 3.9 out of the S and sell it or would it be a waste of time? It is not a bad engine and was reco'd 6 months before I bought it and drove it home and it has sat in my backyard for 2 years since that day.

My wife is now anti spare cars (I have 5 E series in total!) and wants them gone so I better actually start doing something...

Any advice welcome.

Cheers
Bruce

Sell the cars! Secondhand 3.9Ls don't sell for much due to the negative stigma of the EAs & EB1. Vehicles in running condition are easier to get rid of too.

if its a good engine recently reco either keep it for a spare.
or you can sell it but dont expect big money for it..
as most people replace them with ed or ef engines.

not to say the 3.9 isnt any good or doesent have any power as there is only 40cc diference.. and can go just as good as a 4.0l

sell it.. for someone with a CFI 3.2 or 3.9 it would be a big improvement.

especially since it is recod'd might take a while to find a buyer, but will eventually as long as reasonably priced.

Thanks guys

Looks like it is a keeper then. I'll pull it when I can sort out an engine crane, don't have one of them just at the moment.

Both of these cars are not in a saleable condition in their own right. That have been pilfered for various parts to keep our road E's going, so engine pulls is really the only option.

Thanks again

Cheers
Bruce

If they still drive you could get a quick $300 each from a scrapyard.

I am currently luxuriating in my first posession of a spare car. I keep thinking of repairs and modifications, and whoa, i can utilise parts rather than buy new stuff.

Not a bad idea but one isn't driveable - no starter or brakes - and the other is my spares/donor car.

Having a spare is great, when you need big things or little things, it is so much easier grabbing whatever off your spare right in your own backyard!

I think i understand your situation now. I hope it goes well and you get a decent price. Maybe leave it in there so a buyer can see it running first. They might then help you remove it, if you want. And if you don't find a buyer at a worthwhile price you haven't wasted any effort.
