Its no doubt orders coming from the US head office....which is a very bad thing.....the AU styling f**k was due to the US head office forcing the designers here to follow their corporate global "wedge" styling, and look at the massive failure that was...
every time they take orders they f**k it up!!

It is possible that using the international engine might reduce the price of Falcons and make them more competitive in AU...
I will reserve judgement.. I love the I6's, but I don't know enough about the V6 to form an opinion.. has anyone driven the Mazda that has that motor? CX-9??? |

This is a definant possibility, but on the other hand, This would no doubt cost alot of Australian workers theyre jobs. I think this is a case of Ford USA tryhing to dig them selves out of a hole by selling their engines to us.

It would indeed.. but I imagine that there would be a huge amount of work turning the current i6 into all alloy.. they couldn't just use the current cast and alloy as it would not be anywhere near strong enough.. it has to be totally remade to suit. I guess that expense is one they are not prepared to cover compared to bringing existing motors in..
I'm gonna keep an open mind for now though. |

f**k so many wrong speculations in here.
cast iron takes longer to warm up, meaning the donk takes longer to become efficient. The cold start emissions are too bad then to pass the next round of emission laws. to counter this, they really need to step up to an alloy block. unfortunately, for the market the engine is sold in, it really isnt financially viable to reengineer the block. having a v6 will be good in terms of weight and packaging too, the motor is shorter so more weight will be behind the front axle. meaning handling will most likely be better than it could ever be with a cast iron I6 up front. Ford wont go front wheel drive. It has already been announced that the new platform (huntsman) will be rear wheel drive and will share its architecture with the new mustang. and also they would hand the market to the commo. magna/380 proved that no matter what propaganda the car companies spin, the market still wants rwd. and finally, the new engine is still 2 years away, let wait and see what its like before we start cursing and yelling and saying we'll never buy another car from ford. having said all that, i love the torque of the I6, and hope they can get close to matching it with the v6. |

btw, has anyone actually read the article that was posted on p2 of this thread?
looks very narrow up around the valley between the heads.... will be cosy for the valley mount PD charger anyway! |
