Popped the bonnet today of my 1994 EF Fairmont, to discover an oil leakage around the rocker cover... The car has done 165, 000kms, so I guess it could be a head gasket? But, I don't really know.. Plan to take it to a mechanic early next week...
Here are some photo's... I would love some suggestions/advice, cause I'm kinda worried... |

It shouldn't be the head gasket, because it usualy will leak from the back of the head where the head gasket is not the rocker cover gasket. When was the last time you opened your bonnet, it could just be weaping from heat. It wouldn't hurt to get a new rocker cover gasket though.

yep.. most likely just rocker cover gasket.. is a common prob.. if was a head gasket failure... would be blowing strong water vapour out the exhaust.. and if you popped your header tank lid.. while the car was running you might see bubble's rising.....

Just got get a new rocker cover gasket. Doesn't cost much and just replace it yourself. Not hard of a job.

Second the DIY option.
It looks like the compound of your rocker cover gasket has hardened, a normal occurance over time. Buy a rocker gasket kit which will include the bolt and pcv seals. First timer fitting it should be about 1/2 hour or so. Cheers, Paul

Bursons is where I get mine as I have an account there but Repco or similar chain should have them on the shelf.
I can't recall the retail price but it's not huge. Paul
