Just wanted to know a few specifics as to how to do this successfully.
I had a look and it seems to me that I will need to take the whole original box out and replace it with one that will house the new pod filter. Can anyone give me some insight into the process? Ps. I really am pretty much of a newb at this so yeah Modifying has pretty much been a newer sort of thing that I have gotten myself into, very much loving it though. Thanks. |

I did read the tech doc about boxing pod filters.
I just couldnt find where it was specific to the El thats all. But if it will fit in the standard box fine then thats all I really need to know. |

You will need a length of 3" stainless 304 pipe, costs around $20, from any exhaust dealer
You need to get this pipe into the airbox lid through the factory outlet. I used an EL lid and chopped out the guts until the pipe could be pushed through. You only need a small length of the pipe going into the lid. Now you need a 'trimmed up' 45 degree 3" silicone joiner to clamp onto the 3" pipe. Cost me around $20 from eBay Now go get yourself a K'N Pod filter, the SHORT VERSION, part number RR-3003. Cost me $80 from Super Cheap Auto Use a short 2cm cut-off of 3" pipe to give the silicone joiner and pod filter something to clamp onto together |

Wow.
Thanks for the instructions and pictures mate. So it can be done either way? Or is one way better than the other. In other words, is it necessary to use the pipe and the joiner? |

its the better way because the airbox outlet is the biggest restriction in the whole intake. By opening it up and running a 3" pipe will improve flow at the same time

it all depends on how many other mods are gonna work with it
better filter, bigger intake, cold air induction, slightly bigger exhaust valves, bigger exhaust etc........ all seem like small mods on their own, but together will make a measurable difference |
