Hey people i have an EF XR and im running type S alpines all round off a 4ch alpine amp, kenwood head unit and kenwood mono with 12 pioneer sub. its a good system and im happy with it, but bargaining got the best of me i picked up some type R speakers for 70 bucks second hand. so i was thinking whether it would be worth my while putting the Type R's or the Type S's in the rear doors or should i not bother and just replace the fronts woth the Type R's.
Cheers. |

Type Rs in front, S's in rear I guess. Run the rears off the h/u, and bridge the amp to run the fronts.
Thats if you like the R's over the S's though, some people dont. If you do just sell your S's off. I'm assuming we're talking about splits? |

yeah, as above, put whichever ones you prefer the sound of in the front.
if you want cash then sell off the ones you dont prefer, or you can just as easily put them in the back i personally liked the S's more than the R's |

I've heard S's, but not R's, but Ive heard a few people say the Rs are a bit harsh. I lied the S's though, but $$ wise brand new there is much better.

i was lucky when i bought my S type splits that the were reduced to 2/3 of original price. made them the same $$ as pioneer or equivalent. at which point they became bloody good for the price.
i just prefered the tone of the S's. i also preferred to keep my extra $100 |

Money in the pocket wins over 1/100th of a difference. I payed 50bux for my Infinity front splits.. brand new, unopened. 2nd hand FTW!!!

you have an EF, so putting speakers in the rear door will be a bit of custom work. if you put them in the parcel shelf, the sound will be lost by the time it gets to anyone.
try both in the front and see which one you prefer. go frm there |

Forget the rear doors, why would you want rear door speakers for in the first place.....

Type rs will put alot ALOT more mid bass then the s's. As said, bridge the 4chan for the r's in the front put the s's in the parcel shelf and run them off the deck. You sit in the front of the car not the back, the rear speakers are only there for fill.

I doubt its 500rms... it probably says 500WATT max.
500rms would blow those speakers in half. Find out how much its really putting out each channel |

75W RMS x 4 (2 ohm @ 14.4V)
50W RMS x 4 (4 ohm @ 14.4V) 150W RMS x 2(4 ohm @ 14.4V) Built-in Crossover Bass EQ Class A/B Amplification Circuit Speaker Level Inputs Thermal Management Processor thats off the alpine website sorry must have gotten confused before. but im guessing this would be more than enough for the Type R's? i was reading one of the tech documents on speaer positioning and i was thinking about mounting the type S in the kick panels and the type R in the door while keeping the Type S in the back. So idont over kill the amp runn the rear speakers off the head unit and the two front speakers off the amp. i dont mind doing the work never really an issue allows me to procrastinate about doing uni work lol. |
