Hi, recently got a 6cyl ED2 Gli Auto and temp-guage not working (even after changing to a sports cluster there's no signal to temp guage). Can someone tell me which of the 3 switches/senders on the thermostat-housing affect the guage? have looked at the Gregorys manual but it only seems to mention the lower (smaller) of the 3 as the temp sender...so I'm still trying to figure out the functions of the 2 bigger senders above it - because one of them have been removed and replaced by a hose to the LPG-mixer setup, thus leaving the original(square)connector and wires unemployed....what will this affect?Any info greatly appreciated as am still new to Fords.

What year and month is an ED2?? Check your compliance plate.
The manual is correct. The smaller, with single spade connector, sender is the temp sender to the cluster. The larger sensor is for ECU functions.
The square [blue] connector is only employed on Fairmont Automatic Climate Control systems, not on a GLI.
No sender would have been replaced, only a bung removed to plumb the additional heater hose to the LPG.
Clean the connection on the small sender, if that doesn't work then replace it.
Good move on having a workshop manual, everyone should make sure that's the first tool in their kit.
Cheers,
Paul

Thanks Paul, you're right...not ED2 -just ED ('94)! the info helps alot (was going to replace all until now). Saw all 3 senders on cars at the wreckers...mostly futuras I think...so assumed mine should have 3. Yep, have tried cleaning the small one and it's wiring plug (were really greasy & dirty) but no change - so I'll get a new one. Thanks again mate. Regards....Steve.

My pleasure Steve, hope it's an easy fix.
Cheers,
Paul
