yeh its true you wouldn't be coverd.
Its around a couple of hundred $ more on your insurance, it depends on who your insured by, best thing to do is call and ask them how much more you have to pay insurance, after lowering ur car. |

Depending who you are with (insurance wise) will depend on coverage.
You have to speak to your insurance company. Ask them if they would cover you if you were to lower the car within legal limits and still making the car roadworthy. If you are with JustCar, and are 3rd party, then they wouldn't mind. But if you are on a full comprehensive insurance coverage via RACV or something, most likely they will charge extra for minor modifications. If they don't cover you, then don't do it. phong =P~ EDIT: daquilina wrote: yeh its true you wouldn't be coverd.

You don't always have to pay an extra amount for coverage for lowering the car or any other modifications. Extra costs will usually only incurr when you have full comprehensive insurance since they have to cover the extra modifications costs. Though if you are third party you might get away with extra fees because they don't have to cover the cost of your car during an accident...only the damages to other properties. I haven't been charged any extra fees for any of my modifications being 3rd party, fire and theft, with JustCar Insurance.

I with AAMI (they own JustCar I think aswell) with just 3rd Party and I called them up and said I lowered the car, didn't even have to say by how much, and they said no worries..but because I'm under 25 I can only have one mod and thats it.
So likely for me at least I'll be changing insurance companies next time round...

Yeah exactly, depends on insurance, I believe racq, told me, I have to tell them, and can only drop it 1 and a 1/2", other than that it's fine.
I know how you feel though, my dad was like that to, and he wasn't paying for any of it. Your best bet is, go and get your facts and figures, and be sensible about it. maybe you should even get a price on your wheel alignment, even consider to run it in with your tyre change. Although admittedly I'm yet to put them in, there still at work waiting to be coated.
