You've all seen them... They're about $70 posted to your door.

Like this one... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=007

Are these all they're cracked up to be? Anyone got one?

I'm curious as to how good they are. I want one!

Surely it'd be easier to mod one of those strathfield digital stb's with a hdd, remount the ir in the dash, remove the transformer or run a inverter?

Has anyone tried a digital tuner on the move?

This might be a cheaper option.

digital tuners on the move are poor, they frequency band that is broadcast does not take kindly to being picked up by a moving object, if you are creaping in traffic ie at 10-20km'h they work okish..

But constant signal drops mean you get that crappy digital static alot of the time, still the best option for TV on the go is analogue. The biggest issue for this technology to is the type that is broadcast in OZ is different to everywhere else in the world. Something I don't understand..
Technology is mass produced to be used worldwide.. It comes to Australia, and typical of us we have to open it up, screw round with it and change the config just enough that OS set top boxes will not work unless reconfig'd..

I have had a bit of experience with digital TV in cars, a mate put a top knotch HU in his 07 Focus, got the supported DTV module as well, was an OZ delivered item, upon purchase the supplier advised would only be of use while stationary, luck for him, being high quality gear it also did analogue so he was able to flick when reception was non exsistant.

but, Aus TV sucks a**, watch dvd's instead.

that model on ebay is utter crap, you would have reception depending on angle of car, number of vehicles surrounding you, direction of wind.

They are crap, the ariels that come with it are static areils, you need the progressive ones, they stand more of a chance at picking up skipping signals, even still they are pretty compromised considering the type of broadcast that is avaliable in Aus.

I've got a Jaycar car DTV tuner, as mentioned while moving good luck. Stationary however, it's great, always able to watch the V8's.

I have a digital tuner along the lines of the one your looking at and I was suprised about the quality I was able to get while in motion once I got within 20- 30km of the broadcasting towers. Although now I cant find anyone interested in buying it even thought it worked great
