G'day All.
I have a BA Fairmont Ghia and want to dress her up abit, i have seen the BA LTD's have a simple chrome strip on the lower "grill" of the front bar. Ok i tried to attach a photo but it won't work. If you know what i am talkin about can you tell me if i can get it seperatly or do i have to buy the entire lower grill section? Cheers TheGav

I didn't realise that the LTD came with that strip and I'm using a stainless gutter moulding off an older model car. I first saw the idea on a BF1 Fairmont Ghia and thought it'd be nice to take away that "all black" look from down there. I've got a Fairlane grille, cornering lights and chrome mirror scalps on my Mercury Silver wagon so I think it should look good when it's finished. Is that strip a factory part or do you think it was fitted aftermarket as it looks a bit strange the way the end overhangs the wide plastic vertical divider instead of finishing at the end of the original horizontal plastic bar?...cheers Linz. |

Hey mate, just had a look on carsales and it looks like BA LTD doesn't have the chrome strip from factory, but I also had a look at the BF1 Fairmont Ghia and the strip that's in your photo looks like that model only turned upside down to match the angle of the vertical wide plastic divider. Might explain also why it is a bit long for the BA lower grille. So if thats the case, maybe it is available as a part but it really needs to be trimmed down to suit the length of the grille better instead of it overlapping the section next to it. I suppose I should go and have a look at a BF1 Ghia to see it up close and measure it as well, but it sure does look like your photo...cheers Linz.

Hey thegav,
I believe Linz is right! Just went & had look as well & sure looks like the one in your pic! Instead of getting one & cutting it up so it fits nice, How would a lenght of the chrome bumper inserts look along the same spot. Its a fraction wider but at $40 a roll on ebay its a lot cheaper & easier!
