could anyone suggest a reason for my au xr6 vct pinging as i thought the anti knock sensor would prevent this. my car seems to run fine, just seems to ping alot when under load. eg 100kph in top gear travelling up slight hills or when increasing speed while on the freeway. I have an auto with K&N panel filter,pacemaker extractors. 2.5 inch exhaust. hi flow cat, and good leads. 134Kw ATW.

Try colder plugs..Check fuel delivery like pump and filter?
Check PVC as oil in intake causes detonation also...
Better or different fuel ???

Possibly the knock sensor or ECU is faulty or 30 other things on the engine that could cause this. Also low octane fuel will also make it ping.
