Hello all,

I have a question about my AU3 Falcon. It has backfired back through the air box five times in day, to me this is not normal, and shouldn’t be happening.

I have never replaced the plugs or the leads, and it only has 171,000km on the clock, 100,000km of which, I have put on the car myself.

It is a 6 cylinder, dedicated Ford LPG if that makes any difference.

ANY help or advice would be greatly appreciated in regards how to fix/stop this backfiring, and also, what is/could be causing it to backfire.

Except for the XR6T intake mouth and the cat back exhaust, it is a completely standard car.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

:P  Looks like i'm not the only one having backfire issues. Fun isn't it :x As the boys have said, it is most likely the Leads and to a lesser extent, the plugs. I recently changed my plugs to platinums, but haven't done the leads yet, and it still has the occassional backfire. I recently cracked my airbox lid in a couple of places so probably best to change your leads now before you start to see damage as I have.
Try and get your hands on a set of Ice leads, from what I have read, they are the most recommended and worth the extra $$ as I have learnt the hard way :? I hopefully will be getting a set Very Soon, so will let you know if there is any improvement. Also get a set of spring clips from Ebay to reduce the build up of pressure in the airbox if it does go "BANG"
Mick
