Hey guys I put in a set of tickford springs and a set of monroe sensatracs shocks in yesterday. Today I noticed there's a slight knocking from the back like there a little loose still.
I'm just wondering what torques they were meant to be done to? I gave it a go, but I'm not sure if I picked the wrong torques, as there was a few there. to choose from Or the shocks are worn out. and how tight, and how are you meant to tighten down the shocks, from the inside.

from memory the top bolt at the back is around 30nm - would have to check though
the bottom bolts - f**k tight nm's - a good chance a knock will be the bottom being loose. I can't remember how tight, but fairly sure it was the 60-80 range.

40nm on the top 3 - I know that 1 from memory as I have had to tighten the drivers side one so often lately. The bottom one I thought was 105nm, but I'd need to check (my manuals are currently on loan to another member) |

if youre sure you fitted the top washers and bump stop properly, then the sound will be caused by a loose bottom shock bolt
tighten the living s**t out of it whilst the car is level on the ground. The torque is 80nm or something, which means "very f**k tight" Mine was done tight and still made a noise like the diff was split in ten pieces. so i tightened it another 1/8th of a turn and all the terrible noises disappeared |

I just had another look at my manual and realized I'd somehow misread it maybe I was just get tired by then or something.
Torque settings Shock Absorber: upper mounting nut...30-35Nm *lower mounting nut..74-103Nm *tighten with the weight of the vehicle on rear wheels. Thanks alot guys, hopefully this will fix the knock. Also how do you tighten the top bolt without the center pivoting?

If the piston rod turns you can stop it by holding it with your fingers through the coil, or by using a 6mm or 8mm spanner on the flats at the top of the rod and a spanner to tighten the nut.
Tighten until the bush develops a very slight bulge. A problem with using a torque wrench is it doesn't know the duro of the bush. If for some reason your fingers don't work use vice grips with say a thick solid piece of leather or brass/copper. Don't mark the rod of course, no dents or scratches. In some circumstances you can grip the rod with impunity at the top underneath the bump stop, but you can't reach that on the back of a falcon.

Sensatracs are position sensitive. Do Monroe now offer sensatracs for lowered cars? I can't imagine they would considering the different heights. Unless they are specifically tailored to your car they will not work like a sensatrac, the soft section will only apply during rebound.
