I've got a 99 xh tradesman ute running on dual fuel. On lpg it seems to be using a lot of fuel as i'm getting around 23 - 24l /100 doing my best senior citizen impression. Its runniing very well other than this economy issue. Anyone got any ideas to increase my economy or is this what i'm stuck with?

More info would help. Six or eight cylinder? City or country? How much load? Flat or hilly or in between?

Sounds high though driving like a senior citizen.

Maybe try reading the sticky that gives tuning advice.

Plus there are a number of components you could check that could possibly be increasing the consumption.

thanks for the reply.

it is a six and i'm doing generally town driving but it doesn't improve much on the highwayy. terrain is quite flat and as i said you would be hard pressed to see a better senior cit impersonation.

what components would you suggest i look at?

cheers

I'm still pretty new to LPG.

But, the mixture could be rich.

Also, some systems have a filter, it could be clogged, and maybe that could cause a lean mixture. A lean mixture means you have less power which means you put your foot down further. Almost everything that compromises the proper running of a motor increases fuel consumption.

If it's highly loaded and the tyres are half flat that might do it too ;)

Yes, check the air filter too.

If there is an LPG filter(s) in your system to my knowledge they can be located at the tank, at an interim safety valve (located in my engine bay near the firewall), and/or at the inlet to the converter itself. My filter was inside a brass coloured housing and was around the same size as a petrol filter. There was also a magnet inside the housing to help catch the small metal particles that are created from the rolling of the tank.
