I can't get my rear plates off because they have thief-proof screws on them. Any ideas on how I can get them off?

Are they Torx bits? like allen keys?

Abit hard to see but they're one-way screws, can be screwed in with a flathead one way but not out.

Its a bit out of focus can't really tell what it looks like.
If you want to replace them with normal screws just cut a slot in it with a dremel. |

Looks to me if your careful you could still do it with a flat blade screwdriver.

ha ha, thats pretty gay!! never seen them before. as timmeh said, best way is proly just to cut another slot into them with a dremel or a hacksaw (if you're careful of the rest of your car at the same time!!)

One damaged number plate later and they're off.
I clamped the back plastic bits on the inside of the boot down that hold in the screws and jiggled them until the screws bent on an angle that I could undo them with my fingers. For the bottom ones the plastic bits arn't as easy to access, but with the two top ones gone I basically just bent the number plates off through the screws and then the screws were high enough off to undo them again with my fingers. But my number plate is a bit bent, but I'm probably getting a new color anyway. |

im a bit 2 late i guess but i made the same problem with those bolts
i used a dremel to turn it into a flathead screw and out it come damage free but also found the bit a repco also i think snap on now make the bit |

Doesn't matter I just wanted them off anyway so I can get my trade and new car. Thanks for the advice anyway, yeh the guy at Bunnings said to use "Easy Out" which goes into your drill to get out screws like this - for anyone who searches the thread for the same thing
