Hi,

I am considering a PBR brake upgrade on my BF XR6. Wanting slotted rotors and larger callipers etc. Does anyone know a rough price for this, and anyone in Adelaide who can supply and fit the kit. Also i believe that the package is the same one that Ford use as their "premium brake" option where they paint the callipers blue and stamp the Ford logo on it?

Thanks
Brett.

Pretty sure it is the same. I have the PBR performance brakes on now and it's so much better than the standard, you'll be happy with em :) But got a set of Brembo's sitting at home to be put on now ;)

As for prices, i've seen them sold for a lil over 2k on ebay and seen supply + fit for a lil under 2.5k

Usually the 322mm slotted rotor upgrade for the BF XR6 (including Alcon 4 piston calipers, lines, ebc greenstuff pads) will set you back about $3,500.

Although if you were just wanting to go for the BF XR6T brakes (322mm rotor, pbr 2 piston caliper) it would only be about $1,300.

Lots of choices to be made. It all depends on your budget.

I am assuming the $1300 is just for the front upgrade with PBR?

Yes. Sorry, I should have mentioned that the prices quoted are for front only.

What's this Alcon brake upgrade? It's not a standard Ford one is it?

Brett, are you after just a bit more stopping power on the street or you going to do a bit of racing etc?

I am really just looking for more street stopping power. Bascially i do a bit of country and hills driving so slowing from higher speeds ie 100kmph and want to eliminate as much brake fade as possible.

I am really just looking for a fairly simple upgrade. The car may hit the very occasional track day with my club, but very rarely. Thats why i was looking at something on par with the Ford Factory upgrade, and not any higher spec than that as i dont see myself needing it.

One of my mates was just saying change the rotors to slotted and get new pads and braided hoses. Bascially dont worry about the calipers, but i am not sure.....

cheers.

FTg AUto Salvage sell the upgrade kit to PBR2's ie BF XR8 And BF XR6 Turbo brand new for $650 i think

They are a site sponsor.

BA Premium Brakes were optional and were bigger by a couple of mm over the bf xr8 and xr6t brakes

Well i can only comment on the PBR performance kit cos that's what i have on now. They pull up a heap better than the standard brakes, even with a bit of a load and the only time i've had problems with brake fade is stopping from 130km.

How they compare to the FTG kits i can't say, and from what Nicko posted they look pretty decent, would be worthwhile to check them out and maybe someone on here has them and can tell you how they compare to standard

Nicko,

Sorry i am getting a little confused with this.....are you saying that the BF uses a"PBR2" kit? and thats what the factory XR6T and XR8 BF models are fitted with?

So does that mean slightly larger discs and presumably better calipers than what my BF XR6 is currently fitted with?

Was that $650 for front and rear?

Also was the BA 'premium brake' option a better kit than what they offered on the BF performance model range where the turbo and 8 got an upgrade from stock?

Sorry i dont know all that much about brakes!

When you have decided on what you want to fit, shoot me a pm.
I get trade prices from Ford and some aftermarket places.
The FTG kits sound like the goods, I can also help you with fitting the parts.

The BF brakes XR8 ones that FTG sell are 322mm and i think they are 27mm thick. While the PBR premium brakes are 325mm and 32mm thick. They are meant to be better 'cause they are thicker less chance of warping. Thats what i have been told when i was lookin into them

The PBR kit you can buy is the BA Premium brakes.

BF2 kit is good enough though, have driven both, if you really want to go big you can get the territory turbo brakes - they are 355mm same diameter as brembo's!

You can get territory rear brake upgrade also.

XR6 - have alook at ftg auto salvages forum on the index

This is what i found with some research and everyones help...

Standard BF
298mm Front
303mm Rear

The BF PBR package is $1950
322mm Slotted rotors Front
328mm Slotted rotors Rear
Braided Lines
Calipers

The BF XR8 & Turbo is $1300
322MM Slotted rotors Front
328mm Slotted rotors Rear
Calipers
No Braided lines - Which can be added later

It looks as though the XR8 package has the same diameter rotors, but they are thinner. The XR8 costs much less and is probably better value for money, as i dont think performance will be all that different. I looked into the Turbo Teritory Brakes and the fact that no one has aftermarket parts means the price is huge......
