There is no dipstick for the tranny on our car.
There is a bolt on the side of the gearbox, take it out. Stick your finger in. If you can feel the oil, it is fine. Otherwise you need a pump to put the fluid in the hole Have fun

did the service on mine yesterday. need about 5 litres of 95le fluid, and a filter service kit (has new filter, sump gasket and plug ring.) also need a
liquid pump of some variety. all up was about 60 bucks for the lot at bursons. you take the sump and filter off let the oil drain out into bucket/pan, go clean the sump, remove metal shavings from magnet, give the whole shebang a bit of a spray with carby cleaner to get rid of all the old oil you can- wiping off the excess. change filter over once oil stops, put on new gasket and sump, bolt her back together. you will need a pump to put fluid in, coz its impossible to make it flow upwards thanks to our old mate mister gravity.. new plug ring and plug final things to go in. switch her on and work it through the gears a bit. take it for a 20 minute spin, let it warm up, then alternate speed. once shes running good put her in power and make it kick down and rev out one gear make sure its all working. You will notice an AMAZING difference. before service, even in econ, mine would rev out to redline with the hoof in, now even with hoof in its changing at 4700-4900 rpm. which is GOOD although econ seems doughy-er now. Power mode seems to be sharper. It also idles higher. in drive and park. if i put her in drive and idle away its at least 20% faster in movement speed. took me by suprise actually.

Kinda yes, kinda no... Proper Ford method if doing it is get tranny warm, put in drive then stick finger in the hole. If you feel fluid, it is full. If not, add until fluid is at the level of the hole. Other methods can give a false indication. |

I'm tryin to be helpful.
Doing it in cold in park will let the fluid drain back from the converter into the main box. Can give you an errored reading by about 1 to 1.5l |
