My daughter just bought AUIII I6 03/2002 on factory gas. I am about to do service - however there is I believe, a filter at the convertor. What is involved in changing this or is it a no go item?
Is it worth changing leads & coil - done 200,000k?
What's the story with the Ford Motor oil for gas - should I use it?
Change HEGO? I am told the OEM one is around $300.
Apart from above & oil filter, air cleaner, spark plugs, coolant flush, thermostst change, brake fluid flush, auto trans service, -anything else?

Richie.

Is there a manual (apart from Ford worshop) that covers AUIII factory dedicated Gas?

Richie.

I was unaware of a filter on the converter for the factory VIialle converters ... I just replaced the converter on AUII EGAS ute ... and I didn't see one at all.

I used Shell 15W40 LPG oil ... it does the job ... I replace it every 5,000km though as I do a lot of city metro driving ... and oil is cheap insurance. For EGAS models I am pretty sure it mentions 15W40 anyway (not the 10W40 or 30 for the petrol models)

I purchased a new Ford HEGO sensor on eBay for $55 ... works a charm and very easy to unbolt out of the exhaust and replace.

If the vehicle is new to you ... replace the spark plugs at least.

Also a clean out of the throttle body might be a good idea too ... every little bit helps.

If you have a decent LPG mechanic nearby ... get them to remove and clean the idle jet ... and clean the gunk out of the solenoid plungers as well.
