also, if i decided to turbo the EF engine..
besides the turbo set up, fuel, computer, etc. what else would need to be replaced. diff? drive-line? gearbox?

Maybe look at buying a bare AU block and head and building that on the side, that way you can still drive your car around for a while. AU engines are the pinnacle of the SOHC sixes, they're better balanced, have better rocker gear, cast sump for better block rigidity and a crank girdle.
But depending on how much power you're chasing, gearboxes will be a definite on the list of things to fail. If your car has the BRT 93LE and you want to retain it maybe a rebuild with a few trick bits like kevlar bands, better clutch material, upped line pressures, solenoid calibrations etc etc. Otherwise if you're going to go with a manual transmission, start with something like a z-spec T5 from Mal Wood or if you're adventurous go for a T56 and twinplate clutch from a Typhoon. But if you go that way you're going to have to do some research into hydraulic clutch actuation etc. Transmission combinations are endless but are pretty much determined by the depth of your skyrocket. |

that's definatelly a great idea!
buying an au block and head could be some fun! once i'd bought the block and head, cleaned it up, rebuild certain parts, would it drop straight in and bolt up with the rest of the EF?

You would need an AU bellhousing if reataining the auto and you would need to have a section of the crossmember removed, closed and welded up, but that's easy. Other than that it will virtually fall into place.

With an EF I assume you would get yourself an EL ECU (distributer), connect it up and you're off?

i would like to run it off a wolf 3d.
once the AU is in, bolted in and everything connected. would the wolf 3d run it properly? or would it be wiser to use an AU ecu?

dont turbo the standerd motor unless u wont a car u cant get engineered
(in vic anyway) BA motor has already passed emission tests so would be easier to pass engineers
