This morning I went to change the brake pads on my wifes EB S before she went off to work.
The first problem I had was getting the wheel nuts off. I had to use a 6 ft piece of pipe to "break" the hold on all of them. However, there is no way in the wide world the wheel is coming off!!! I tried everything including two people pulling on the damn thing - rubber hammers, pry bars and anything else I could think of would not make it budge. I reckon I would drive to bloody Melbourne with no wheel nuts and it *still* wouldn't move. The car has Turboblades on it if that makes any difference.. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try next? Typically she let the brakes get real low and now they *have* to be done. Cheers RD

Spray something down the wheel nut holes like WD40 or something and let it sit for a while.
Don't know why it would be that stuck though. |

Hi RD
The centre hub spigot is an interference fit with the centre of the wheel, and it sounds like it has been there a tad too long. I think some WD40 sprayed around the centre of the wheel will help. BenJ

Don't know why it would be that stuck though. I didn't mention that it is a front wheel, if that makes any difference. I have sprayed WD40 down all the holes and puts the nuts back on so she could go to work. She is coming home early so I can have another go, so hopefully the WD40 will make a difference. Cheers RD

BenJ Thanks Ben I knew it was an inteference fit but this is taking things too far! I have never ever come across this issue in all the years I have been doing car repairs. Last year the tyre guys changed things around at rego time, thats who put the nuts on at about 2000ft/lb in the first place. Hopefully WD 40 will be my friend. Cheers RD

loosen the wheel nuts off a bit and drive it forwards or backwards shaking the stearing wheel till they crack. Once they crack jack the car up and either tighten the nuts so you can drive it to the shed or just take the wheel off were it stands.
I had the same problem with my xr6 and the wheels had only been on 6 months. It sounds pretty dodgy but if your smart enough and don't go for a trip round the block you wont damage anything. Id use that as a last resort though! Nathan |

BenJ It definitely should not be an "interference fit" , it should be a clearance fit although that clearance may be full of rust which is holding it on. |

Hi Guys
I got that wheel off, WD40 did the trick. The stuff I put on this morning worked it's way into the right places while she drove to and from work. The wheel didn't come straight off, it still needed edging off. As it turned out there was crap between the wheel and the hub which was holding it on. My wife cleaned all that up while I changed the pads. The opposite wheel came off fine. Thanks for all your help guys, I was totally stumped this morning. Cheers RD

they look more like circular saw blades.
I think they are one of the best looking factory wheels from their time and still polish up well for 15" rims.
