Hi All,
A few questions about the AU XR6 throttle bodies: 1. What size is the butterfly in a factory AU XR6 throttle body? I've seen aftermarket ones that claim to be larger at 63mm, and factory ones bored out to 70mm? 2. Are there much differences between series 1,2,3 AU throttle bodies? Aftermarket manufacturers often only make ones for S1/2. 3. Can an AU XR6 auto TB be easily changed to one for a manual car? Apparently the throttle cable and arm are a different length. If I get a TB for an auto, should I be able to replace the cable arm with one from my existing TB? Thanks for the tips. Joe

Joe the throttle body size is the same from ea mpfi to au 3..(64mm) and auto to manual is the same throttle body and cable.. why would it be different?? i think only the tickford au v8s got larger throttle bodys?? |

The throttle bodies are different. I've spoken with SS inductions about TB's they used to produce, and I can't modify an SS TB for an auto vehicle to work on my manual apparently - " There are more differences than just the length of the cable arm. The TBs for EF-AU are really specific as to model suitability".
Also check 'performance west' TB's on ebay. They state that 'PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THE CAR IS A EF ,AU1 ,2,PLEASE AS THROTTLES ARE DIFFERENT'. SgtBourne wrote: and there arent any gains to getting a larger TB for a 6cyl .
My car is supercharged so there's more likely gains to be had through less restrictive air flow. I've found this simply by shortening induction pipework....it is just an air pump on an engine after all! So can anyone give more specific details? It seems that TB's are model specific. Any help with first post questions? Thanks.

The differences are in the idle solenoids, and Throttle Position Sensors.
Throttle bodies are simple flaps. I want to try and get one of the Later model gas throttle bodies I read about. Kind of like a Gas Research job. I expect new from ford is about $400 I will go see the boys at City Ford spares and get their price. Has to be a lot better than a mixer.

Cheers. Can the solenoids/throttle position sensors be swapped easily between the different models?

Worth a shot isn't it?
I think the TPS needs to be very accurately fitted. The gas set up from Tickford has the idle solenoid on a spacer plate with a vaccuum line into it.
