Alternatively copper/brass as well. Anything but plastic I reckon.. Your wallet up for an alloy one? Go for it. Also depends on how far you intend to modify the engine as well.

If the radiator is functioning properly, there's not a huge problem in running plastic side tanks. Mine split open a few months back, was very blocked... didnt get too hot but the pressure buildup @ redline due to the blockages was enough to crack the tank open.
I got a standard replacement from ebay for $170... car runs cool as a cucumber on a hot day in traffic.... im not sure what kind of mods would warrant an alluminium radiator... there's a fair bit of outlay right there. The seller on ebay offered me a 3 core for about $320. God knows what an alum sets you back? Seller was gman (the rad man, lol) (these are prices, new, with free delivery in australia)

Its getting to be that Alloy is cheaper than copper now.. As every car manu is using alloy ..Its better with alloy heads etc..Less chance of electronisis / corosion...Plastic tanks last about as good as copper..They all blow out if there are other issues anyway...
