Guys.

Im about to get a redback cat-back exhaust.

Choices are : no Rear Resonator, or the Hotdog.

Id like to keep the SAF (Spouse Approval Factor) Reasonable...

What do you think

yeah mate, on my eb 6cly Manual wagon i have a centre resi and hot dog at rear....it sounds nice does not drone like my sedan 6 with no rear resi at all!!!

hotdogs give a nice crackly burble, especially on manuals....

on my ef v8 I also have a redback system with a hotdog, that too sounds good and it not too loud, take her over 3000 rpm and it really is a grumpy sounding thing. in a good way

So to answer your question about the spouse factor, f**k rta.....even my eb sedan with no resi or hotdog at rear ....is only too loud when u cane the hell out of it...normal driving its fine, however expect a drone when cruising..

If I were you I would stick to the Hotdog....which produces a nice clean, crisp note....which also sounds great when ya right foot has the urge to go south..

Hi Nigel

My EB has a rear resonator. You heard it when I was at your place, so use that as a guide.

It is quiet but audible at idle, no drone at highway speeds, or at all for that matter, and really gets a nice bark when getting up it.

BenJ

The Hot dog is more for the resonance at 100km/h. I had it on my eb

Happier that way, and better SAF

I've got a lukey with a centre muffler, no res and I dont get drone. There was a slight amount of drone at 2500rpm when I didnt have extractors, but now there is none at all. I'm pretty happy with the note and pwr increase.

Hey mate,

I have a 2.5 inch redback exhaust with hi-flo cat and pacie comps with a centre muffler. I would rate mine as the best i6 I have herd. (not being biased) I have never had a drone at all and it sounds great at idle and it has a great pop sound when engine braking!!!

How about some sound video's? :D

Ive got a full exhaust done by 'Liverpool exhausts' and sounds great, but wouldn't mind some more crackling when braking..Ill see if it improves with the manual trans, if not ill pull the rear muffler (or is it the resonator?) and replace it with a hot dog. Can someone confirm its the one closest to the tips?

You will definently notice more crackles and pops with the T5!!
I just love down shifting the old wagon at the lights!! he,he...bang crackle pop pop!! Great through tunnels too *lol*

Yes the Hotdog resonator is the one placed closest to the tips, although I have seen systems with a hotdog as a centre resi as well as rear..

Has anyone actually got that on their Falc 6 or 8????

Castlegreyskull (FM Cruise Moderator) has a twin system with the 2 centre hotdogs instead of mufflers on his 5.0L. Sounds friggin awesome. I think he has a couple of pics in his gallery.
Cheers,
Mick

OK - Got the system last night - at a very good price (I think). Redback exhaust with a hotdog in the rear section.

Will not be getting it onto the car until the car is manual for now.

So just holding off.
