With the squeak from the rear this may help. Back the car up onto some ramps and loosen all the control arm bushes, let the bushes twist into their relaxed position and then re-tighten. This goes for the front lower control arm bushes too.

I recently tried the method of putting the three top bolts in then trying to twist the shock body, but it didn't really want to work. It would be easier however if the coils were only just tight, like a super or ultralow type, compared to my std ones. But even if it does work it still means the top ends of the springs no longer mate up with the appropriate section of the top rubber. So overall i don't recommend it at all.

Joolz is right about marking the top hat relative to the shock body. If you mark the hat relative to the spring end, you will have a problem if the new springs have a different number of turns.

i'm trying to get them dirty so there not so "bling bling"

but the next door neighbour's cat keeps pissing on them!
so i've got a plastic bag and a river sorted :P

will get pic's tomorrow and try and sort out the squeaking, it even does it on idle sometimes just sitting at the lights!

the pedder's sport rider's are great, i used to have the pedder's comfort shocks in my old eb xr6, and for the little bit extra in cost, they make a huge difference!

Just did the same modd to my au the other day and as many have already said i just fitted the new springs into the strut and locked in the hat as one unit then fitted the top as normal and the bottom needed a crank around about 15 degrees, just stuck a big screwdriver thru the bottom holes and turned, wasnt that hard at all.
R U trying to turn the shock against the spring or with it as mine was with the spring so that the step in the cup pressed onto the strut was cranked away from the end of the spring by about 5-6 mm, If u r going against the spring i would bet u would have some trouble, u could try to swap them left for right and maybe there is some diference.
Just a ? did u fit lowered struts with ur superlows or the factory struts as mine where about 40mm shorter at full compression?
Might be the diff with the fittment issues too.

ah cheers for the feedback dude!

there stock struts, i ended up just turning the rubber in the top cap by eye. they went in fine. can i ask what springs you used mate? kings are a good price, but there fairly unforgiving, many people have said whiteline make a great spring, but is the price difference worth it...

Yeah cheapish, but i heard whiteline are the shizzle if u can afford em, particulaly their swaybars are aparently really worth the price
