you should get an ef or el for that price.

try not to get one thats already modified and then you can ad your own touches as funds allow. if you do this you will have less problems.

welcome to the forums

exterior modifications may not be the best place to post this...

First car needs to be reasonably safe, basic (so you can learn how it works), easy to drive, cheap and able to take a beating/thrashing.

I prescribe an early-mid 90's E-series. My first car was an EA and without that, i wouldn't know s**t about engines, costs, taking care of a car, car problems, etc.

If it's under $4,000 an EB or ED might do the trick, just gotta find one without too many km's and appears to run okay. If you find a car you're considering, should post up the details and we'll give you a hand in judging it's quality.

G'day BMACFORD#9 welcome to the forums.

I've helped you out here with a link to carsales.com with EF/Els around the 4 grand mark in Vic.

Can get a cam fitted, ported head and exhaust.

Lower it on superlow springs for the look. Rims of your choice.

Capa Switch Chip tuning.

All that done for $4k-$5k getting others to do it. Cheaper if you have a go yourself.

Put 22" chromies on it... with spinners...

Go to the 6 cyl workshop and read up on engine mod guide, etc. Might want to stop typing in caps too.

yeah id agree, ive got an ef 4 spd auto lowerd, with 18 ba xr wheels just an cat back exhaust and tinted windows it looks good sounds good, but i think id rather an ed/ef xr6 5 spd manual just coz the autos got no go. im 17 myself and paid for the car stock. look for a car that has already had the head gasket done and as other have said had the work done to it already, thats where i made the mistake.
