Hello
The only things i'm seeing as an issue with your idea is that the 3.9 hasnt got prevision for a knock sensor, the serpentine belt setup is difficult to fit onto a 3.9, i think the timing cases are different for mountings?? (please correct me if im wrong) Might be easier to put in the 3.9 with its accessories like alt and waterpump, but then, i think the wiring loom is different between the alts... Basically, Yes it can be done, but you'll need to swap all the EL bolt-ons and drill and tap a spot for the knock sensor Seems alot of work to swap in an engine just to swap it out again... What kind of rebuild are you talking?? a re-ring and bearing? or a full blown oversized pistons, balancing etc? Either way, Good luck

it will be a full on rebuild with mods ( looking for more power). not to concerned about the el car .
The motor won't be going back in that car , it will be going in into a eb that i'm rebuilding |

Oh, ok.
well, i cant see any reason why it cant be done, just might be a bit of messing around. Good luck with the build. David.

going from a 4 litre to a 3.9 may be illegal as you can't go backwards only forwards.
Ie: you can put a 4 litre into a model that had a 3.9 but not the other way round. i'd check with the rta
