howdy, i have an EA with a trip compy that has never worked.

it does not light up or do anything but annoy me when people
ask about this very useful looking gadget.

i just want to know if there is any common problems encountered
with this gizmo, and if there is any common fixes for these problems

i dont know the wiring or anything for it, do you need to pull apart
the dash to rewire it or anything? i hate pulling apart dashboards.

also, if you care, i drive and EA "s" MPI 5 spd wagon, with no mods apart from a JVC MP3 playa and new speakers.

The EA "S" Pack didn't come with a trip computer as standard, either it was installed as an extra when ordered, or it was put in later by a previous owner. If the later is the case then it may not have been wired correctly.

unfortunatly the only way you are going to find out, is pull the dash apart.

Yep and check the globe first off... you never know, it may be just blown.

Yeap, definitely check the globe. I installed mine and thought it was furked, but it turned out that the globe was dead.
