Hi all,

Having trouble with my brake lightss on my EL. They work when i turn the headlightts on but it doesn't get brighter when i press on the brake peddle.

I've checked the fuze and thatt seems to be ok.

Could it be the Brake light switch?

Any otther suggestions.

Cheers
Zacha

what could be wrong is the brake switch is gone. it is located above the brake pedal behind the plastic covers that are underneath the steering column. it is a little black box. it will be a bit of work to reach and replace it.

i have a similar problem. when i press the brakes, when the headlights are on, one turns off. i changed the brake switch but this didnt help.
if both lights are stuffing up might be worth a try to change the brake switch. there is a techo document here about changing this that is very useful and tells you how to change it

yeah its about 40 quid, just depends where you go. apparently the design of the switch means that it does not last very long, something to do with the connection relay (moving metal plate).

They're about $10 from repco.

iirc the non genuine ones are better than the ford ones.

also double check earths, and correct globes are fitted.

Thanks guys

I had a feeling that it was the switch.

Didn't realise they were so cheap.

I've changed one previously so i'm fairly confident.

Thankns for your help fellas

Cheers
Zacha
