Hey all.

I've saved enough to get a mechanic to do an engine conversion.
I'm considering it atm since my 240 000 ED engine uses a lot of fuel.
(Before this I will be undertaking an E-GAS manifold BBM conversion.)

The car is currently on dual fuel, I intend for it to be straight LPG if this conversion happens.

I'm not sure on what engine to pick between the E-GAS or standard AU engine. The E-GAS is around 15kw less than the standard engine, does the E-GAS have far superior economy? Basically I'm wondering if there's any advantages running a straight E-GAS AU engine compared to a straight gas standard AU engine.

I'm on my P's so the car has to be P plate legal. I think I'm limited to 192kw. I want to make that power with mods that don't really make economy suffer (such as snorkel extractors, maybe T5 later down the track).

What would you recommend?

no one seems to be able to prove the differences between E-gas and normal Au engine....

so id say just get a std AU eng as it will be cheaper because theyre more common

Thanks mate I'll get a normal one.

Car will be on straight LPG. I'm currently finishing sourcing parts for my BBM conversion. The E-GAS engines would use a dedicated gas manifold correct? Any advantage of using a dedicated gas BBM rather than plugging the injector holes with welsh plugs?

the only thing that would really be important is if the E-gas runs different/better valves and seats.....I have seen no proof that it does

and i cant see why you wouldnt keep the injectors in place as its always nice to have a petrol backup as its very hard to top your car up with a jerry can when it runs out of gas

Straight LPG gives a fair bit more economy doesn't it?

And some power.

When you run a gas only engine you can tune the engine to best suit the fuel you are using getting more out of it . In a duel fuel situation there is a tuning compromise to allow the car to run "good"on both fuels but not optimum on either so you get less than the best using either. In a gas only engine the cam , tune ect can be exactly tuned to suit so more power and better fuel economy.

so what, tune it properly for lpg and have the petrol there just for emergencies, petrol doesnt need to be perfect just good enough to get u to a bowser so u can put more lpg in
