The converion with the cam & head isn't worthwhile as you need the computer & solennoid as well. The extra power came from mainly the cam. They also hade a better computer, tickford snorkel & slighty better exhaust. I looked into the conversion but just not worth the money. I am not sure about the head difference though. I believed it was the same as an Xr6 Hp head. Which means only slightly stronger Valve Springs. Correct me if I am wrong but i will get back to you as i have some info on the computer somewhere. |

The AUxr6hp & the VCT head are the same. Pretty much the same as your current head with slightly stronger valve Springs. If you do a conversion you also need the engine harness for the VCT solenoid to hook up to. I hope this helps

They have the same ports and valves but they are different heads. The VCT head has a massive cutout for the VCT phaser to stick out and some locating dowels for the VCT cover/solenoid assembly to be mounted to the head. Rocker cover is different as well.

True, the cutout is for the solenoid which you can't use the head without which is why the rocker cover is slightly diffferent. It is the same head with a VCT Solenoid out the front But no more power. Your best bet is to get your head ported but only by someone who knows auI6's. Useless is knowlegeable if he is still on these forums. He did his own. Good luck

The vehicle I have here is a Fairlane 2002 with the tickford engine but has a lot of k's thought if I got a low k engine and swap the head over ,would that work?

Yes it would. It might be worth getting the head checked out though. The bottom end on the Au motor is pretty strong & durable. It is usually the head that will need attention first. If you are after a low km engine, Aussie recyclers QLD on ebay do the Insurance cars & have stacks of Low km Au & Ba engines. They advertise on Ebay & ship everywhere with minimal cost. In saying that I would get the Tickford block rebuilt but that will depend on budget. Maybe someone knows the cost & get advise?

Just throw a set of rings and bearings in that motor and she'll be right as rain for at least another half a mill.
