Thanks Bottlejack - I am lucky to have a friend who does the electrical for a living and does strange things like putting a Lexus V8 into an MX5 and twin turbo 6's into Toyota Surfs (Still using 4WD). His latest is a GSXR 1100 into a golf cart. I would post pics - but its not Ford so wouldn't dare. This is pretty straight forward for him, but I am trying to make it as easy as poss!

Au six is a sweet runner. Since when did they have 182 kw?? Put something with a bit more character in it to match the wicked shape.

OK - complete c**k-up my end, its not an AU motor... it's a BA motor (Barra 182). From what I have read, I may have to go to an AU though because my guy is good, but it looks like you need a PHD to wire up the ECU on the BA!
If anyone has the pin-out for either engine (I can get either) a BA or an AU then please let me know. There are already quite a few forums on retro-fitting the engine itself so I will do my research rather than getting it repeated here. Besides... a 2003 BA motor in a 1978 XC? I can't find anyone who has done it before! I will watch the X-series forums as I am pretty sure the are a few AU to XF/XG conversions out there. If it gets too hard (like it isn't already) then maybe an AU turbo is a good idea. |

The BA motor is pretty much the same length as a AU. just a bit taller. and theyres AU motors in X series floating around..
BPT motorsport over here can wire up BA motors to run standalone with their ECU tweeking machine. it would proberly be easier into a X series because theyres not the headache of cruise controll.. abs.. and some other crazy gadgets that appear in new cars. theyre should be a tuner fella over in NZ that could flash it i hope.
Hi i am interested in knowing if you guys are capable of reprogramming the BA PCM to run stand alone. Looking at doing a engine transplant want to run BA ECU. Been told by some people you guys are able to do it.

Hi There, Yes we have done the BA and BF PCM's to run stand alone and kit cars and engine transplants. easy process. Barry.
