lost my licence 2 months and 3 weeks to the day, so i decided to fix my timing cover leak in the first week. i wa swaiting for my head to get back for a month and a bit then i couldnt get my harmonic balncer off for ages and now its almost time to put it all back together! question is though anyhting i should look out for because it has been in hibernation for so long?i already know the basics like fuel/gas, obviously run a couple of oil changes through it before i head off and pump up the tyres. anything else i should put on the cheacklist?

While the timing cover is off replace the guides reset the timing chain tensioner use new head bolts and an AU head gasket carefull when putting the head back on not to damage the new guides invest in a workshop manual if you don't have one.

might be a good idea to check the distributor as well to make sure the gears aren't stripped or if there are any signs of wear. If you can afford it, you might as well replace with a brand spanking new one and you wouldn't have to worry about that breaking down anytime soon...so I hope.

i thought efs has the coil set up?
also i was wondering if there is a wash through oil of some sort to get out any gunk that may have found it was around the engine?

oh wait...yeah...sorry i didn't look at the car you drove and you didn't mention it...my bad, but replacing the coil pack might be a good idea too if it's seen better days.

replacing coil pack costs a small fortune, I have found one of the best engine fush additives to be power steering fluid, put in ½ litre, run engine until warm, leave to idle for about 5 mins, let it cool off drain and dump the oil, run it with mineral oil not synthetic when flushing as well.
