hey guys, my old man just bought a BA XR8 and found the engine number didnt match the VIN.. usually the engine number is the same as the last 11 numbers (or close to it) as the vin but his stated FPV at the start.. just wondering if this is the normal engine mumber or maybe something different as the engine mumber is registered to the VIN with vic roads and his insurance company

all boss 260 and boss 290 engines were built in the same place, and all have fpv at the start of them. so the numbers dont match at all? whats the number on the engine?
