Hi everyone, i have a ef fairmont, and im doing the basic mods - leather seats, chrome bits an pieces and wood trims
the only thing left is the gear shifter, on my EF the tbar is black, and if i get a gear shifter with the silver button, it might look a little weird having the wood grain surround an the silver lining with the tbar pole being black just wondering if i get the whole unit with the chrome bar and the gear shifter is it hard to change over? |

I'd definitely get the chrome bar, give it a little polish before fitting, i reckon it really suited because of the woodgrain surround personally.
Changing it isn't, to hard just got to crawl under the car undo a bolt, inside the car, take the shifter off, then the surround and sound deadening out, and the 4 bolts. reverse to fit.

Just that padding material s**t, just pull it up by hand, but you may need to pull out the piece of plastric that sits around the shifter surround depending whats it wedged under.

On my old EL I had all that, but I also bought a chrome shifter nut from dcstraight, which finished it off beautifully.

To change the shifter stalk, you do not need to get under the car.
Remove the Gear indicator piece and the small sound deadoning from around the shifter stalk. There is a 17mm nut holding the stalk on to the shifter linkage bolt. It is a pain to get at but you are able to do it. The stalk might take a bit to come loose, but wiggle it firmly and it should free up. Oh, and personally, I don't mind the black stalk and nut with the grey knob and chrome button. It is up to you if you like it or not. BenJ
