Hi All, my g/f was driving my ef farimont along the hwy when it just shut down. When i got there the keyless entry still worked, interior light etc etc. Tried to start it and all it does is wind over and the smart lock light on the dash flashes. Not getting any spark or fuel, tried another bem but it didnt seem to reset and still doing the same....Any Idea's Anyone....Need to get it going as i hate driving a hyundia to work....

Have you checked for spark with a spare plug in lead 1 while cranking?Check coil pack plug, fuel & ecu relays, and fuses in engine bay near coolant reservoir.

Can you hear the fuel pump prime when turn the key to ignition?

Check to see the tone wheel and CAS are clean. CAS should measure 300-400ohms. If this test okay then;

Check you have 12v on the green/red wire at the 4pin coil pack plug, with someone cranking the engine see if the other 3 wires have switching earth. That will diagnose a faulty ECU.

Cheers

Yeah charge your battery and if it works and keeps dying then as said above.

TFI module can also cause this I heard.

not globe--- fuse!

I think it's likely fuel pump or ecu.

I don't think there would be any design awards if this were the case lol. Interior light globe blows and the whole car ceases to function :lol:

yeh take off the fuel line to the rail and "give it a kick in the guts barry" before that get someone to put head in the boot to see if fuel pump primes up.

hope you get it working i know what its like changing from a good car to s**t bucket (Falcon to a festiva)

Hi All, Just an update to say thanks to everyone's help. After a fitting a new relay and then looking at other things. Replacing the fuel pump and going through all electric's again. Finally tracked it back to the replaced relay being a dud. Got another new one and the beast fired into life, it was just that all along. It was such a great moment this morning being able to take it to work instead of the sh** Box Hyundia... Thanks to all...Cheers...

That's why I have picked up a bagful of spare relays etc from wreckers.
