Is it definately from an EL (not EF), with the chrome outer surround, and could I repaint the blackouts to get back to a standard EL grille ???

How much do you want for it ??

No, the EL's have a chrome surround, and the EF's are painted body colour.

the fairmont ones are colour coded, you want a fairmont ghia grill.

Peter, the EL Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia grilles are the ones with the chrome outer.
The difference between the Fairmont and Ghia versions is that the centre bar which the Ford badge is mounted to is grey in Fairmont grilles and body coloured in Ghia grilles. The rest of the grille is identical.
Hope this helps a little.

Darin.

Thanks Fairmont 98, I am now clear on this. My daughter has an EL Ghia, with the body colour centre bar but I wasn't sure of the Fairmont set-up.

I can live with either - I could paint the centre bar if necessary.

Many thanks,

Peter

The centre part of the EL grilles is also slighly larger but the overall grille dimensions are the same. This is acheived by reducing the thickness of the top border of the grille.

How much is stripping and polishing the grille (EF version) likely to cost, btw?
