now this question is only for people who wont respond with "use the search", because what i want to do is generally not covered...
ive got an AU motor and will be putting the ED manifold on....I wanted to keep the original serpentine belt setup on it but use my ED A/C compressor...I imagine the AU A/C comp and bracket will be heaps different to the ED has anyone dont it like this and will it work??

i tried and failed lol..
the ed aircon pump uses a 5 rib belt and the au uses a 6 rib belt. also the ed pump will bolt up but will sit about 1/2 to far back and the pullies wont line up. you can use the serpentine belt with the log manifold but you will need to use a ef/el aircon pump with the ed or xh pump bracket and you will also need a xh belt tensioner. this is because the aircon pump will need to sit lower to clear the log manifold.. |

so the EF pump is the only way to go...or can u use the AU pump...
I didnt want to use it straight away because I thought running it without refrigerant and oil might bugger it up I think i read somewhere that someone got the ED style manifold to fit using a regular EF tensioner, he had to do something but cant remember what it was...

I didnt want to use it straight away because I thought running it without refrigerant and oil might bugger it up I think i read somewhere that someone got the ED style manifold to fit using a regular EF tensioner, he had to do something but cant remember what it was... the ef pump would be the easiest as the ed lines do fit the pump just the metel pipe at the pump just needs to be bent a tiny bit to clear the airbox. you could use the au one but you will need custom lines.. you can fit the pump without gas it will be fine as the compressor in the pump wont turn on unless the is pressure in the line from the gas.. i have also heard that someone has used a longer belt and the ef/au tensioner but im not sure exaclty what was done?? |

It won't really take much effort using an au motor since everything is on it. Only the A/C compressor brackets need to be changed.
I put an el motor with serp belt and tensioner, using the log manifold, into an eb and used the eb bracket as well as the el bracket (spacers). i didn't cut them down and have no clearance issues. i did have to get a longer bolt for the bottom of the compressor. |

Someone on another forum mentioned that Dayco do an aftermarket XH tensioner that is alot cheaper then the genuine Ford.
If price is the reason you aren't keen on the XH tensioner.
