Hey guys
i just rebuild my engine and refitted it to the car over the last few weeks and i got the car up and running and went for a drive and and had some low of power issues and after while i sorrted them out to loose earths and battery termonals but i just noticed that my poor battery being flooded with 20.8V when im driving around(battery relocated to boot with miltimeter sitting on back seat so i can read. when i turn the car off it drops back to 19V and try loading the engine up for min and starting with all loads and battery drops down to 12.8V. I had to replace the alternator when did the engine rebuild when i undone the power cable off the alternator it snapped the bolt off the regulator unit in the back of the alternator. so i bought a alternator off a guy wrecking ef/el to get me going when the engine was to be refitted. anyone know a easy fit? or do i have to buy a new regulator or alternator? are there like external voltage regulators that i could fit saves me having to remove all that stuff again lol thx jason

there are extrernal voltage regulators like what I have used on trucks with dual battery 24V power when installing UHF radio's. But these GME 24-12v regulators would not handle the current drawn from everything on the car and would die very quickly.
I would say either buy a new regulator or recond the alternator.

my battery just leaks acid everywhere. charges at 14 does all the right things just been leaking (evident of overcharging) but it's been doing it for so long i can't believe theres still fluid in there to boil over. is it overcharging when it's not overcharging ?
