my mates got a vs commodore ute and the mob that put the stereo in mounted the sub in one of the compartments under the tray in a box made of MDF with a PVC tube cut from the box into the cabin, sounds great and takes up no space in the cabin. dunno if u can pull it off in a XG ute. see if u can get under the tray for a better look. the mob that doen it was Rockhampton car sound.

probalem is, there's no room there in an XG unless you get the rear firewall cut out and moved back

Getting it cut out and moved back is not that hard a task and will leave you with a heap of space
